What is Internet of things (IoT) ?
The Internet of things (IoT) describes physical objects (or groups of such objects) that are embedded with Internet or any other communications networks and an embeded software that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over Internet.
Internet of things has been considered a misnomer because devices do not need to be connected to the public internet, they only need to be connected to a network and be individually addressable.
What is Industrial Internet of things (IIoT) ?
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) refers to interconnected sensors, instruments, and other devices networked together with internet for industrial applications, including manufacturing and energy management.
The current conception of the IIoT arose after the emergence of cloud technology in 2002, which allowed for the storage of data to examine for historical trends, and the development of the OPC protocol in 2006, which enabled secure, remote communications between devices, programs, and data sources without the need for human intervention or interfaces.
What is the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0 ?
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the trend towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes which include Internet of things (IoT), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) etc.
What is IOT Analytics ?
Internet of Things (IoT) analytics is a data analysis tool that assesses the wide range of data collected from IoT devices. IoT analytics assesses vast quantities of data and produces useful information from it.
IoT analytics are usually discussed in tandem with Industrial IOT (IIOT). Data is collected from a wide range of sensors on manufacturing infrastructure, weather stations, smart meters, delivery trucks, and all forms of machinery.
